Just bought my first road bike from a used sports equipment store. They sent me over to Marshall to see if it was a good bike. He proceeded to give me free advice and confirmed that this was indeed a good bike/fit for me. Not wanting to take advantage of his generosity, I booked a bike fit with him the next day and was prepared to pay big bucks since the ol' google told me it would be between $150-300. You guys, he spent 30-45 min with me professionally fitting it, teaching me all about road bikes and riding, the gears, etc. Then he loaded my bike up in my car and told me to skedaddle. As in no payment, on the house, enjoy the bike community. When he said "this is what people should do to advance the sport and pay it forward for new riders", my eyes welled up with tears.
There are plenty of bike shops in Charleston but I can guarantee none of them have service like this. None of them CAN. Having to pay for expensive buildings in the nicest parts of town, sponsoring multiple events/races, marketing, etc, makes giving away service impossible. Not saying it's bad, just a different model. If you enjoy a model that embodies kindness, love of the sport, economic service and professionalism, Marshall at Easy Rider is your guy.
